In class, we recently have started to work with colors and how they effect gameplay and the composition of a piece of art. I decided to do more research on the effects of color on a specific game, Overwatch, and its color choices, how they effect gameplay, and its features for colorblind gamers. One of the most iconic features about Overwatch is its logo. In the title screen, you can see how contrasting colors are used to make the logo stand out more. The logo and title are white and orange and they are on a black background. This color palette gives the title screen a simplistic look, and the orange and white give a friendly and simple feel to the title screen. In the game, when you see an enemy, they are outlined in red, while allies are outlined in blue. All enemy projectiles and weapons are also blue, while ally projectiles or shields are blue. This helps gameplay because it makes it easier to see the enemies and differentiate them from your teammates. It also helps the enemies stand out from the environment. In Overwatch, there are colorblind modes to help with gameplay if you are colorblind. These are helpful because

In our Fundamentals of Design and Animation class, Adobe Photoshop has become an important tool we use in class. I wanted to learn more about things I could do in Photoshop and going more into detail for a few tools. I decided to look up guides on brushes to use in Photoshop and other tools used in painting. Some things I learned about brushes included specifics on what certain things mean and selecting a brush you want. The brush tip shape changes how your brush looks mostly on the beginning and end of a stroke, and you can select different brush tips according to what you want. The brushes differ in hardness, texture, and size. Hardness refers to if you were using a brush in real life, how hard you would press. In Photoshop, hardness makes your brush more or less even and smooth on the edges. Texture refers to what the brush looks like. Some brushes are straight and consistent, while others can change depending on how you move your mouse and can look more scattered. Size is how large your brush is. You can always change the brush size, but certain brushes have a default size. Some other things I researched were the burn and smudge tools. The burn tool can be used to darken parts of an image slightly and smoothly. You can adjust the exposure of the burn to to make the shading more or less extreme. The smudge tool can be used to mix together colors and textures in an image you are creating. Both the burn and smudge tools can be used together to make your artwork have a different meaning and look better in general.

I know how to use keyboard shortcuts, more tools, and new design aspects to make my creations look better and more professional. I wanted to explore Photoshop more in depth and learn how to get better at using it, so I looked up tutorials on how to do certain things in Photoshop that seemed useful. I looked up help on the basics of using what is called "history", in Photoshop. History shows all of the states your creation has been in. You can open up the history panel and see what you have done. For example, if you want to go back to before you started coloring something but want to keep everything open, you would find where you started coloring, and click on the state before that. A quick way to go back one state, you can press Ctrl + Z, which is the shortcut for undo.

I realized that my drawing skill is mediocre compared to the expectations and standards in class. I decided to do some research on how to draw better. Something I found out was that simply practicing and drawing over and over can further your skill. I learned that you should start with simple things and go off of reference. Don't try to draw something from memory or using your imagination first. Instead, look at something or look at a picture for reference when drawing. Something else I learned was to take your time with your drawings. Sometimes I rush through my drawings, and I discovered that you can practice drawing details to slowly get better at drawing in general. Overall, practice makes perfect when it comes to drawing, and anyone can do it.
http://brandondayton.com/2010/01/6-tips-to-get-better-at-drawing/ I recently began working in Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Photoshop is a program where you can edit images and saved pictures to make your own image. I've found that using Photoshop to make ideas into real pictures to be very fun. I've learned how to use some of the many tools and now have a very basic understanding of how to use Photoshop. I have made two images in Photoshop currently and am going to make a third. I highly recommend Photoshop to anyone who has an interest in creating images online using editing. The skills I am using and learning can be used in other things in my life, so overall, I think using Photoshop is fun and educational.
Dungeon Defenders II is a game that was made by Trendy Entertainment and released on June 20th, 2017. In this game, you defend an objective from enemies and bosses in a series of levels of increasing difficulty. You collect loot and level up your character along your journey through the levels. Some good things Dungeon Defenders II has to offer are the large selection of characters and big amount of customization. There are many characters to choose from, and it actually takes time to earn a new character you want. Getting a new character is rewarding, and it is fun to learn how to play someone completely new. You can customize your appearance and gear to a fairly large extent. While you are limited on how much secondary currency you can earn, it still feels rewarding to unlock new weapons and upgrade your character. One thing that could be improved on in Dungeon Defenders II is the improved explaining of gameplay. While playing this game you may feel confused as to how some things work or how to access something, and this definitely could use some work. Overall, Dungeon Defenders II is definitely an upgrade from the first game in terms of gameplay and content and is a great game choice to play alone or with friends- and it's free.
Review Summary
A 3D modeler is someone who creates 3-Dimensional assets for a game or animation. These types of modelers in the design industry are important because they create all the characters and objects used in video games, movies, videos, or animations we see today. 3D modelers interest me because I am interested in seeing the process of creating a finished 3D character model.
In my research of this topic, I learned that 3D modelers also use 2D textures to put onto a polygon, which is a model usually made of small triangles creating a 3D shape. I also learned that most are self-employed and jobs can vary greatly in this field depending on what the circumstances are.
